Paul Lotts retired from Shell Oil Company in 2007 after a 38 year career. In his last position, he was a Senior Organization Effectiveness Consultant. In this position, he worked with all levels of Shell Management on matters relating to the effectiveness of Shell businesses and organizations that run them. Earlier assignments were in HR management at several Shell operating sites in the US. He holds a BS degree in Business Administration, majoring in Personnel and Labor Relations, from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He has lived in and out of the Houston area since 1969, including assignments in West Texas, Illinois and at Shell’s global headquarters in The Netherlands.

ESCH Experience: Paul joined ESCH in late 2008 and since then has helped several nonprofits through training and/or management consultation services. He currently chairs ESCH’s Consultant Relations team and represents that team on ESCH’s Operations Teams. He recently helped ESCH move from a committee structure to a team structure and teaches ESCH’s Conducting Effective Meetings seminar. Some of his recent clients and projects include the Houston Arboretum and The Friendship Center.

Houston Arboretum, an organization that provides education about the natural environment to people of all ages and to protect and enhance the Arboretum as a haven and sanctuary for native plants and animals. They requested help in identifying the needs and aspiration of their many donors. Paul helped them by conducting both an e-survey of all its contributors and extensive interviews of their major donors.

The Friendship Center is a Montgomery County nonprofit that provides meals and transportation to senior citizens. In response to their request, Paul is conducting a whole system review of their organization to help it better align itself to the current and future needs identified in its Strategic Plan that was prepared earlier with ESCH’s consultation.
